Frequently asked questions

What is the best way to travel between Kathmandu and Pokhara?

The most common way is by tourist bus, which takes about 7–8 hours. Given the ongoing road expansion work (specifically on the 90 km stretch), the journey can be long and bumpy. Alternatively, you can take a domestic flight (approx. 25–30 minutes) for a much faster and more comfortable experience.

What should I expect regarding accommodation in Jomsom?

Accommodation in Jomsom is simple and basic as it is a remote, high-altitude region. Do not expect luxury or star-rated hotels. If you need extra warmth, you can usually request a room heater for an additional charge.

What is the best time to visit Pokhara and the Annapurna region?

The best time is during the spring (March–May) or autumn (September–November). These months offer the clearest skies, providing the best views of the Annapurna range and more comfortable temperatures for trekking or sightseeing.

What kind of clothes should I pack?

Pack in layers. While Pokhara and Kathmandu might be warm, the Jomsom and Muktinath area can be very windy and cold, even during the day. A windproof jacket, sturdy walking shoes, and comfortable layers are essential.
